Dangers of FSC Cigarettes

Although the government and tobacco companies implemented the new FSC cigarettes to reduce deaths from household fires, the added chemicals and fire safe paper in the cigarettes are also adding an unfair and unhealthy situation for cigarette smokers.

As quoted from the Harvard School of Public Health regarding FSC cigarettes:

“The Harvard School of Health reported that when comparing NY Cigarettes (FSC) versus Regular Cigarettes, the FSC cigarettes produced 13.9% more Naphthalene and 11.4% more carbon monoxide than regular cigarettes. Naphthalene is commonly found in moth balls, and exposure in high amounts can result in headache, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, malaise, confusion, anemia, jaundice, convulsions, and coma. Therefore, it has been proven that FSC cigarettes contain higher levels of chemicals that are harmful to smokers.”

These higher levels of chemicals are caused by the main additive to the FSC cigarettes: ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer emulsion based adhesive, or better know as carpet glue. Since the standards of the new fire safe cigarette require smokers to inhale the cigarette at least once a minute to keep it lit, this in turn means that they have to inhale more smoke than they usually would if they don’t want their cigarette to go out. Therefore, smoking an FSC cigarette would expose a smoker to much more smoke and harmful chemicals than a regular cigarette. These chemicals have induced odd symptoms in many smokers, such as:

  • -Nausea
  • -Headaches
  • -Sores in mouth and throat
  • -Dry throat
  • -Extreme coughing
  • -Tightness in the chest
  • -Vomiting
  • -Body Aches
  • -Pain in the abdomen
  • -Respiratory conditions like asthma and bronchitis.

Please be aware of these added dangers!
